Cool New App That Helps You Read Faster?
Thursday, March 6, 2014
I know what some of you are thinking: how can an app possibly help me read faster? Others are amazed because they cannot find the time in their busy schedule to just sit down and read an interesting novel. Now, you can.
Spritz is a Boston-based startup that created an app that allows you to read faster than you could have ever imagined. They are currently working on a licensing deal with Samsung, and Spritz technology will soon be available on Samsung's wearable devices. The technology behind Spritz is a lot simpler than it may seem. Spritz did a study and discovered the most time consuming part of reading is actually the movement of you eyes from left to right across a page. With Spritz, there is no longer a page, instead words flash before your eyes in one position, so you have the ability to read without having to glance from left to right across the page.
In addition, Spritz has discovered a person's OPR or Optimal Recognition Point is actually to the left of center for each word, so Spritz uses this discovery to make their app optimal for readers. Entire novels can now be read in as little as 90 minutes. It makes you read a book word by word, instead of page by page, and can help you read from 250 to 1000 words per minute.
