The New York Giants have recently signed many strong defensive forces to make their subpar defense from last season to possibly a top defensive unit in the National Football League. The most well-known of these forces is cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie from the Denver Broncos. Rodger-Cromartie agreed to a five-year deal with Big Blue worth 39 million dollars, which 14 of that 39 million is guaranteed money. With 31 combined tackles and 3 interceptions last season, Rodger-Cromartie proved to be a key factor in the Broncos secondary, and will definitely add depth to the Giants secondary next season.

Cornerback Walter Thurmond of the Seattle Seahawks last season was also signed by the New York Giants this season. Thurmond signed a one-year 3.5 million dollar deal. The fact that Thurmond was a part of the unstoppable Seahawks defensive force is enough proof that he will only help the Giants secondary. Winning the super bowl last season with the Seahawks gave Thurmond crucial experience to continue a successful career, especially after injuring his fibula in 2011 and being suspended for substance abuse in the beginning of last season.

In addition to these two cornerbacks, the Giants also signed a 7 year experienced safety in Quintin Demps. Former Kansas City Chief, Quintin Demps is an experienced safety that haas his best season of his NFL career last season. Demps is also experienced in kick returning, which the Giants were looking for after missing out on Jacoby Jones.

The Giants also agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain right after re-signing LB Jon Beason. McClain adds more experience to a struggling defensive line last season. After signing McClain, the Giants also re-signed Spencer Paysinger, which should bring this defensive line together to be a more threatening force than last season.

Overall, the Giants' secondary could make a complete one-eighty from last season to this up-coming season. In addition to strengthening their secondary, the Giants also signed Mario Manningham and Trindon Holliday. Manningham will help fill the gap in losing Hakeem Nicks, who signed with the Colts, and Holliday has proved to be a top kick returner with Denver last season. All in all, the Giants are moving towards a more productive season.
