NCAA March Madness Day 1: Upsets Spotted

6 Ohio State     59-60     11 Dayton 

The opening day of the NCAA March Madness Tournament has already consisted of some upsets that will likely crush your hopes of a winning bracket. The University of Dayton's victory over Ohio State University 60-59 in the final seconds of the game is the standout of the upsets. 11th ranked Dayton had a slight lead over number 6 ranked Ohio State for most of the game, however the whole game was extremely close. Sophomore Forward Dyshawn Pierre lead the Dayton Flyers with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a perfect field goal percentage. Since Dayton's 1-5 slump, they have improved to 11-2 in the past 13 games.

8 Colorado     48-77     9 Pittsburgh 

Another upset today was between eighth ranked Colorado and ninth ranked Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh crushed the University of Colorado by the score of 77-48. Senior forward Talib Zanna lead the Pittsburgh Panthers tallying 18 points and 5 rebounds. The Panthers were up 46-18 after the first half and were able to cruise by the second half after gaining this huge lead early on in the game.

5 Cincinnati     57-61     11 Harvard

The most recent upset was between 11th ranked Harvard and 5th ranked Cincinnati. Harvard had a slight lead over Cincinnati for most of the minutes in the game, and came out on top 61-57. Junior guard and forward Wesley Saunders lead Harvard Crimson with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. This victory is Harvard's 9th win in a row. Harvard will face the winner of Delaware and Michigan State in their attempt at 10 straight wins.
