The Future For Cars And iPhones

Monday, March 3, 2014

Apple recently announced CarPlay, which will turn one's car into an accessory to their iPhone by fully integrating the driver's iPhone and Siri to work within the dashboard of selected vehicles.

Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, and Volvo will be shipping CarPlay enabled vehicles this week. This select few of car manufacturers will soon expand in 2014 to 13 more companies that will include a lot more major car manufacturers. CarPlay will only be accessible to iPhones with the lightning port, which means the iPhone 5, 5c, and 5s models.

Drivers will be able to control music, navigation, phone calls, and messages through Siri allowing for a hands-free experience while driving. The touch screen display will feature music apps including iTunes Radio, iHeart Radio, and Spotify. Apple strives to make complex ideas simple. This is exemplified in the CarPlay's unique layout and what seems to be no on-screen keyboard. With this announcement, Apple's stock rose .29% on Monday to 527.76 despite most other stocks falling due to fear of Russia's deliberations in Ukraine. Ebay and Amazon both fell by about three quarters a percent.
